Week 2 – Theme Dive

06/10/2025

On our Monday lesson we started of by writing down our 4 themes that we have been looking at over the last week. We then went on to share with the class what topics we were looking at, it was quite useful as it allowed people to receive some help from other peers on topics that they were looking at and it was nice to get an insight as to what others were thinking of presenting next Monday.

Within the lesson I made some notes on what to potentially avoid when creating my presentation as we were able to look at past years presentations which again was very handy in knowing what was expected from us during our time presenting. During the first half of the lesson we took part in working in pairs to pick one topic each and then writing down words we thought would go under each sub heading. (Refer to image on the right). This activity was helpful as it made me consider other areas to research in terms of my topic.

When we came back from lunch we looked into systems, we started of with looking at already made games the examples being Pacman and Life is Strange and we picked apart what we thought might be systems set up within those games. We then used one of Xane’s topics ‘moustaches’ and again went through a similar process of coming up with potential systems. Some examples were, fashion, shaving, status etc.. which smoothly lead us onto our next activity. In pairs myself and Maja picked a topic that we were looking into and went through coming up with ideas.

As you can see we both had a pretty successful time in coming up with different ideas for potential systems. You can also see that I’ve highlighted paranoia and delusion this is due to the fact that after this lesson I decided I actually wanted to swap out one of my topics for these two combined. I’ve decided to swap it out with the topic of mental health as I’ve looked into this topic quite a bit and I think it’s time to explore something different and new. So my four topics will now be Serial killers, Cults, Paranoia/Delusion and Baking.

Blackout Poetry

What is Blackout Poetry? Blackout Poetry is the name of any type of poem that is derived from blacking out any unwanted words from a paragraph, book, sign, etc., using whatever inking or colouring tools you have on hand. Basically, anything that has words can be turned into a blackout poem so long as you can block out the particular words you want by blacking out the others.

Here is mine and Maja’s attempt at doing blackout poetry for a paper on peace, justice, and strong institutions.

Goals for the rest of the week

For the rest of the week, these are my set goals to help me be fully prepared to present next Monday.
