Scopophobia basic game overview

What is the experience? Remember all the items in your grocery list to do your shopping while avoiding being “attacked” by the NPCs, checkout and go home.

Narrative aspect of game:

Character talks to themselves in the mirror and reflects on how they did that day. Say the right things to yourself to get perks in the next game. If you demoralise yourself too much you get weaker and the game gets harder. For example your anxiety bar could reach max faster than it used to.

Perks:

You get to wear headphones or ear buds for limited amounts of time. These stop mobs from attacking you, so for some time you get to just relax and find the items in peace. The headphones have a really low battery life so if you don’t use them strategically, they will just die and you’ll have to play the game like normal again.

The best the reflection, the best you get at dealing with the npcs. (Ex. You can have effective comebacks to npc interaction)

Npc mini games:

Npcs ask you random mean questions to you or just ask you random things that you have to answer them; they could also just say random mean things you can’t answer to (ex. They tell you you have terrible taste in food).

Answer wrong and your anxiety rises, answer well and you’re okay, evade and your anxiety rises significantly. Perhaps during anxiety mode, the npcs actually follow you.

Stealth:

Avoid npcs, by acting like a normal person. Do this by interacting with shelves to appear busy, but only for a limited time before having to switch shelf to interact with.

You can check corners by looking at the top view mirrors, (may have to give this up because coding mirrors is crazy). Maybe the character looks around the corner. If they catch you doing that, they immediately walk up to you and attack you with their words of judgment (ex. “Why are you just peeking, you’re being such a creep!”). You can avoid this interaction by interacting with a shelf Inconspicuously.
