Formative Feedback

This week was reading week. The core work revolved around feedback from Thursday’s tutorial with Vanissa, ensuring every decision in the design process was traceable. We also added subheadings to the website to make it easier for visitors to find the sections they wanted to read.

This week’s work and improvements:
I’ve created separate ‘Research’ and ‘Idea Generation’ sections on the project website. Games I’ve previously introduced on my blog, artwork by artists that helped with the visual design of ‘Daydream,’ and explanations of definitions can all be placed in the ‘Research’ section. The ‘Idea Generation’ section is also important; recording the improvement and refinement of ideas makes the design thinking process transparent and traceable.

I received valuable feedback from Yushan regarding the ‘overly abstract initial concepts,’ which made me start thinking about whether there’s a more concise and clear way to introduce my game. This week’s organization work was very rewarding. I should answer the fundamental question of ‘why choose this,’ grounding the design from inspiration to reference sources. Feedback from classmates and theorists made me realize the importance of making the game’s intent easier to understand and feel.

Next week’s plan is to create detailed visual illustrations for the bedroom and bathroom rooms using the game GOGH, based on the initial framework of the levels, incorporating my favorite vaporwave color scheme. Simultaneously, I will conduct research on Y2K aesthetics and retro-futuristic styles around the theme of ‘Nostalgia’.
