Team contract / Agile

In the second week, we focused on aspects related to teamwork and how to make it efficient and player-oriented in game development. I believe that in this group collaboration, it is most crucial to build trust and empathy. By understanding each other’s work preferences and communication styles, we can achieve personalized collaboration and reduce misunderstandings. Communication should be direct and clear to avoid ambiguity.

Then we conducted an analysis of user stories. I felt that this step was about establishing the precise target audience for our game. We first identified the audience and then incorporated the mechanisms, plots or art styles they might be interested in into the game. This significantly reduced the time spent on unilateral discussions about what was still lacking in the game.

For my individual task this week, I devoted all my energy to the design of other important NPCs. Our game has three NPCs: Tylor, Olivia and Sarah. Starting from the initial settings provided by Oliver, I first listed some of their likes and dislikes, and then designed their appearances based on their personalities. I really like the part in the GDD about the graphics representing each of them. Graphics are actually a great element to represent certain personality types. For example, circles are more gentle and inclusive, while triangles are more sharp and direct. I designed their clothing, color schemes and background stories based on the three points of character design I learned last semester and handed them over to Maria to draw.
