Second Playtest Refinement

Second Playtest – 19.03.2026 – Soul Keeper

After our second playtest, I made several adjustments and improvements based on player feedback to create a smoother and more polished gameplay experience.

  1. Changed the interaction key from Q to E to make controls feel more intuitive for players.

  2. Redesigned the Peacock minigame from a separate extra scene into a UI element within the first scene, improving gameplay flow and interaction smoothness. (With Ollie)

  3. Replaced the old deer animation art assets with updated versions provided by Lettie, making the deer animations appear much smoother in-game.

  4. Updated the player character animation assets from Lettie to fix the issue where the character appeared tilted during gameplay.

  5. Enlarged the animals’ collision volume so players can more easily trigger nearby interactions.

  6. Unified the game’s UI style and fonts with Swan to create a more consistent visual presentation.

  7. Added UI text instructions for the deer-feeding mechanic to help players better understand how to interact with the deer.

  8. Added the game poster illustrated by Swan to the opening title screen to improve the game’s presentation and first impression.

  9. Added the opening animation into opening scene by Lettie. (With Ollie)
