During Week 7, I reviewed my progress in relation to the learning outcomes and reflected on both my strengths and areas that require improvement. Overall, most of my progress was considered on track, particularly in areas related to teamwork contribution, technical implementation, and experimentation within the Unity pipeline.
During the one-on-one feedback session, I realised that I could further strengthen my critical analysis of design decisions, especially in relation to puzzle mechanics and gameplay logic, rather than only documenting implementation steps.
From a technical perspective, I have demonstrated the ability to select appropriate tools to support the development of the vertical slice (B3, D1). For example, I implemented a structured Audio Manager system in Unity to ensure that sound assets can be easily controlled and replaced across scenes. This reflects my ability to apply practical technical solutions that support iterative development. I also collaborated closely with artists to ensure that UI feedback, visual clarity, and interaction cues support the intended player experience. These processes demonstrate my ability to contribute to the sustained development of the team project (C2) and apply discipline-specific workflows (A3, D2).
Another key suggestion from the tutor was to provide clearer evidence of collaboration and communication within the team. In response, I updated the team blog to include documentation of how I coordinate tasks with other team members, such as communicating with artists through Slack, integrating assets into Unity, and providing structured feedback for iteration. I also included records of how responsibilities are distributed within the group, clarifying how design, art, and implementation decisions are aligned. This helps demonstrate my teamwork role in a more professional context (B4) and provides transparency in the development pipeline.
Moving forward, I plan to:
- Provide deeper critical reflection on design decisions, especially regarding puzzle structure and player guidance
- Document how each iteration improves player experience rather than only describing technical changes
- Continue improving communication transparency within the team blog by including clearer evidence of collaboration workflows
- Strengthen the connection between design intention and implementation outcomes
